Crakehall...
Crakehall is the quintessential Dales village with its large green and cricket ground, overlooked by the impressive hall. It has its own church, pub, shop, and garage, and is the perfect gateway to North Yorkshire and beyond. The bustling market town of Bedale is only 2 miles away.
It is at the gateway to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, and is surrounded by stunning, un-spoilt countryside.
The village is used for many local events, including the Spring Maypole dancing and the annual “Emmerdale” charity Cricket match (featuring stars of the eponymous television series).
A huge annual bonfire is held in the grounds of Bedale Hall and the new Wensleydale train service (sometimes featuring Thomas the Tank Engine) now runs from the old station in the town. Locally, there are many more visitor attractions. Far too many to see in one visit!
It is within easy reach of the A1 motorway, and is convenient for exploring the North’s many other attractions, such as York, Durham, or even the coast at Whitby or Scarborough.
The village website www.crakehall.org.uk has everything else you need to know.
